The Benefits of SEMAX

At our clinic, we specialize in Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). We offer treatment regimens for Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT), Human Growth Hormone (HGH) Replacement Therapy, Sermorelin Therapy, and several other hormone treatments that may be required to restore a healthy and youthful balance of hormones.

But we don’t stop with hormone therapies. We strongly believe in a holistic, comprehensive approach to restoring good health and youthful vigor to our clients...and keeping them in optimal condition.

Our treatment regimens include detailed nutritional guidance, supplementation, hydration, controlling stress, tips on getting deep, restorative sleep, nootropics, minimizing the damaging effects of the numerous toxins in our environment, and other approaches to complement our hormone treatments.

And that includes the possible use of the peptide Semax.

Semax is a Russian experimental substance that was developed in the 1990s to prevent and treat circulatory diseases like heart attacks, strokes, and hypertension (high blood pressure). The peptide drug delivered on its early promise, and in 2001 its creators were awarded the prestigious Prize of the Government of the Russian Federation.

But that’s not all that Semax does. While researching the effects of Semax on circulatory illnesses, several other benefits were reported. Here are some of them:

• Sharpens memory and improves concentration.
• Controls stress.
• Boosts physical performance.
• Stimulates motivation.
• Reduces pain.
• Prevents oxidative damage.
• Enhances blood circulation.
• Elevates mood and battles depression.

Wow! What a list! This begs the question: how does Semax work? While scientists disagree on the exact mechanism that allows Semax to deliver its benefits, here is what is known. Semax is a synthetic version of the adrenocorticotropic hormone that is a hormone secreted by the pituitary gland that is highly active in many functions.

The pituitary gland stimulates the release of cortisol from the adrenal gland. Cortisol is the so-called “stress hormone” that motivates the body in a “fight-or-flight” mode. Contrary to a standard narrative, cortisol is not harmful; when we are faced with a severe crisis, it is life-saving.

Cortisol is the hormone our caveman ancestors needed to boost enough energy to get lunch or spur them to avoid becoming lunch for one of the monstrous predators that shared their world.

The problem with cortisol is that humans are designed to benefit from short-term bursts of the hormone. Nature has not caught up to our current 24-7, hurry-up-and-wait, always “on” modern-day environment. Constant stress = adrenal burnout, which leads to depression and many physical problems and can eventually be fatal.

Semax can cause a state of controlled stress, which is ideal. A controlled amount of stress gets us out of bed in the morning and motivates us. Again, the key is controlled. The type of stress Semax induces can sharpen our brains, smash procrastination, and get us going on what we need to do but keep avoiding.

For many people, motivation is elusive. A recent study found that only 8% of the world population is motivated to persevere and succeed at their objectives. That means an astonishing 92% of us lose motivation and fail to achieve our dreams. For some folks, Semax may be the nudge they have been looking for.

This controlled stress mental state might be the key to relaxed, clear thinking and could account for the cognitive enhancing (nootropic) effect of Semax.

Another explanation of Semax's work is that the peptide stimulates specific brain areas, like the hippocampus and other brain receptors. Semax’s effect on these brain receptors allows Semax to cause the release of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF).

Think of BDNF as fertilizer for the brain. It helps the brain’s nerve cells grow, thrive, and eventually mature. This, in turn, promotes brain plasticity, which is crucial for learning and memory.

BDNF also boosts the health of brain synapses, allowing the different areas of the brain to communicate, resulting in a healthy brain.

Chronic stress is debilitating to all areas of our body, especially the brain. Stress lowers BDNF levels, which leads to depression and other mental health issues.
Many people have stated that taking Semax in the morning gives them the energy and motivation to be productive at work.

Semax has also shown promise for treating Attention-Deficient/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

As with any experimental compound, Semax can potentially cause side effects. The good news is that there have been no reports of any significant adverse side effects from Semax. However, that does not guarantee that Semax is perfectly safe.

The research on the substance has not been sufficient to detect any severe health issues from its use. But do not take that as a green light to experiment with Semax without checking with your physician.

Semax is commonly taken by nasal spray application or sublingual. It can also be injected, but most users prefer the nasal spray.

There are none for the recommended dosage since Semax has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), so the agency has not issued any dosing guidelines. Again, always discuss using any new supplement, drug, or other substance with your doctor – including Semax.
